Lent

Lent snuck up on me this year. I completely forgot about it however I got a great idea for what to do this time from a friend on Buzz, the lovely Mary Jo.

I have been trying to consider ways to be more active in my life recently and somehow never considered being more active in my community and country.

For Lent, instead of giving up something like chocolate or meat, I am going to give up time. I am going to start writing letters to my congressmen and sending letters to our soldiers overseas to thank them for what they are doing.

I am trying to think of other ways to contribute so if you have any recommendations send them my way.

  1. Great idea! Maybe it would be fun to set a goal of writing a letter a day, to a congressperson or a soldier serving overseas — then maybe to someone in your community who you think does good work, or someone who’s alone, or an old friend … just a way to reach out and give a “thank you” or “hi there.” Thanks for this inspiring post!
